Results from the Meet Director
On a rather chilly morning a few brave souls made their way to
DuPont Forest for Foot O and Bile O. We had several first time
orienteers as well as some regular COK folks that traveded
a long way to run. The White course was standard in length
while the Yellow course was much longer than a typical Yellow
course at 3.6 K.
Walter S. and James S. were the only Bile O participants
and both had respectable times thru the first several
controls on a course with multiple changes of direction and
lots of climb.I failed to add a new trail to the map that resulted in
a logical choice to the next control passed a trail
junction not clearly shown on the map!!
A very special thanks goes to Troop 420 from Simpsonville SC.
Andrew, Cody, Colby, Mr. Clark and Mr. Vogel helped put out
Water before they ran the courses. Afterward they picked up
100% of the White and Yellow controls…only 20+ of them!!!
as well as picking up the water stops. This made for a much
shorter day for me, much of which would have been in the cold
rain that arrived as I was leaving.
[COK President’s Note: A huge thanks to Jim Hall for designing, constructing, and managing this special orienteering challenge. He went way beyond the call of duty with his efforts to set up a wonderful event. For those who haven’t experienced the uniqueness of a Bike-O you should definitely try it out – it ain’t easy, but it’s a hoot!]
