Dan Davis put on another stellar event in spite of the elements!   Just like spring – the weather was in like a lion and out like a (fill in appropriate animal here).  Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed another splendid day tromping through the woods.

As the last COK event for this season – a big shout out is in order to all who helped make orienteering possible for the greater Charlotte region.  Volunteers are continually needed to help design, set-up, manage, and wrap-up every event.   As mentioned many (many) times – the COK is currently kept going by rather seasoned folks who both love the sport and have a willingness to support healthy outdoor activities for our community.  But, the future of orienteering is not up to them – it’s up to you.

The COK has “lost” several seasoned volunteers in the past several years who invested their time & efforts to make orienteering available.   We’re now at the point where next season’s events are on unstable ground.  Without volunteers to take on club responsibilities – orienteering may not be possible.

Now is the perfect time for anyone (especially those with experience) to contact Dan or Walter about what it would take for them to assume the “reins of the club”.  Before the next events start in fall – there’s time to get folks ready to become meet organizers.  Just like with any other non-profit – you can’t assume someone else will step up.  That someone else is you….
