Kings Mtn National Military Park (March 6th)
March 6 - 10:00 to 12:00
Price: $8.00Event Navigation
Due to policies and prudent measures we all need to take – orienteering for the foreseeable future will be limited to intermediate (orange) and advanced (green, red) courses only. No beginner courses (white, yellow) or training are available. Sorry newbies – but, we’ll have this back as soon as possible.
We’re still working with park officials – so, please keep a close eye on this website and the COK Facebook page for updates.
The Battle of Kings Mountain was against tyranny….
Please note the following particulars for this meet:
No walk-ups allowed. Only those who have pre-registered and pre-paid online are allowed on courses. No cash or check payments accepted. Please use the “ticket reservation” feature below to register & pay. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you’ll see courses with a button to indicate how many maps you wish to purchase. Click afterwards and a new window will open where you input your name, email, favorite Beatle’s song, and credit card info. You should receive a confirmation email after payment is made (BTW – the system won’t go through if you don’t click on the waiver button).
Map sales are limited by park rules – first come / first served. Once we’ve reached the limit imposed by the park – map sales are final. This event’s cap: 30 Orange / 10 Green / 10 Red
Map sales end at 1900hrs, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 or sooner once cap is reached (maps are typically sold out weeks in advance).
Discounts for scouts, members, and JROTC are are temporarily suspended until further notice.
Maps are $8.00 each. You select which course and how many maps using the “ticket reservation” system. Your payment includes:
- one finger stick for electronic punching. Finger sticks will be disinfected prior to the meet and will not be re-issued during the meet. Please bring your own if you have one. Controls do not have manual punches. You may elect not to have your time recorded – but, you must still check out/in with the time-keeper
- map(s) with your selected course(s) printed on them. Maps will be issued at the meet
- an indemnification waiver Every participant must sign a waiver either by purchasing a map or in-person at the meet. If you are going on a course using a map that someone else purchased – please print out, sign, and bring a waiver form with you (we’ll have some at the meet as well if you forget).
Groups (e.g. scouts, JROTC) are allowed; but due to limits imposed by park officials – we cannot exceed 50 participants. Therefore, do not purchase a map for use by small groups. Instead, each individual must purchase a map.
At the park: Follow directional signs to the meet location (amphitheater).
Masks are required only at the registration and time-keeping areas. Let’s self-police keeping the ubiquitous 2 meter space between us (this includes while your out on a course).
This is a rain or shine event open to the general public. BYOC (please bring your own compass). No start times after 12PM.
