Spotted on the Green Course……..
The last meet of the 21/22 season ended on a high note. Weather was
superb and the woods were still clear. Morrow Mountain is really well
suited to orienteering with a variety of terrain features to choose from and
a trail network that can contribute to route choices.
This meet was truly a joint effort. Walter Siegenthaler designed the courses
and he and David Alexander hung the controls. David also helped
Jeannette and me with meet administration on Saturday. What really helps
on Saturday after the event is having several people stay around to pick up the controls and I couldn’t have had a better group. Thanks to all of them.
A special thanks to Major Ervin Purvis and his Myers Park High School
JROTC cadets. This was the second time they had volunteered to help
with the JROTC side of the meet and it certainly lessens the Meet
Directors load on meet day.
Current plans are to kick off the 22/23 season the first Saturday of October
at McDowell Park. Keep an eye on the website for developments over the
summer.
