February 4 - 10:00 to 12:00

Price: $10.00

This event is open to the general public and is hosted by the COK (a non-profit / all-volunteer club).

There are no medical attendants on-site at orienteering meets and each participant must evaluate their own abilities to participate. All participants accept all risks. Please consider this risk assessment link (safety, getting lost, common injuries, etc.).

All adult participants (18 and older) must indemnify the club & venue via a waiver.  This is automatically done for the person registering and making a map purchase.  Adults who accompany a map purchaser; but haven’t yet indicated a waiver should print off a waiver form and bring it signed to the event.

Younger participants (under 18) must have a responsible adult indicate a waiver on their behalf.  No one under 18 may participate in a COK event without their responsible adult present at all times.

Groups (e.g. scouts, JROTC) have a responsible adult (chaperone) indicate a waiver during registration / map purchase which covers all participants.  No need to provide the club with all names of participants.  COK waivers for orienteering participants are distinctly separate from waivers between groups and minors’ parents.

Group leaders are requested to contact the meet director prior to a meet so that any special information (e.g. bus parking) can be relayed.  Group leaders purchase maps on behalf of their groups and are solely responsible for the safety and accountability of their charges during the event.

All participants must register and pre-pay online (below).  No exceptions. All sales are final.

Please use the tickets feature below to select a course and number of maps desired. Maps may be shared.  Copied, older, or previously used maps are not allowed.  Registration is closed at 1900 on Wednesday prior to the event.

The total number of maps sold are limited to prevent strain on the park and & club staff.  Once map limits have been reached for a particular course – sales for it end. If your desired course is sold out – please select a different one or come to the next event.  No walk-ups allowed.

Maps are sold according to the “color” of a course. Purchase quantities are not limited; but groups are asked to be considerate of others who wish to participate.  Maps are $10 each. Your purchase includes map(s) with the selected course control locations pre-printed on them and an electronic finger stick.  These will be available at the event under the name of the purchaser.

For participants who have their own fingerstick – please indicate that during registration. Your payment will be adjusted to reflect this ($2 discount).  There are currently no discounts for memberships or groups.

  • Parking is limited!
  • Please do not park on grassy shoulders
  • School activity buses may have to use larger parking lots near ball fields

Electronic timing “finger stick”

Participants may begin a course anytime between 10AM and 12PM (after this time anyone allowed to participate is on a case-by-case basis determined by the event manager).  All participants must use electronic timing.

During navigation on a course – please keep safety in mind; be respectful to the land (e.g. no littering or molesting wildlife); and be considerate of others (e.g. no moving controls or cheating).

Accountability and safety of participants is paramount.  Therefore, all participants must check out and check in with the event manager.  There is a 3-hour time limit on all courses – so, if a participant cannot finished by that time – they must immediately return to the start/stop location (even if a course is not finished).  DO NOT SIMPLY LEAVE A MEET without letting the event manager know you are off the course and safe. This is especially important for groups!

  • On the day of the event – look for directional signs to the meet location (picnic shelter at end of main road).
  • Orienteering is a rain or shine activity – so, unless the park is closed due to inclement weather – it’s on!  {Tip of the day:  don’t wear nice clothes…but, do wear sturdy shoes}
  • Volunteers to help set up, manage, bring in controls after a meet, or help in other ways are always needed & appreciated!
