What a day to orienteer! Clear skies, good temperature and what a crowd we had. Probably our biggest turnout this season. The competition is really heating up in Brown, Green, & Red (where we are seeing some fantastic times).

This was first meet where Livelox was available. This is an app that allows you to record your route and then see it on your map after you finish. Fun to see and also a good way to critique your performance.
Special thanks to Jess Greer for getting COK up to speed with Livelox. The club is just getting started with all this app can provide. I’d think everyone who’s an avid navigator will enjoy using it. Get Livelox from your app store.

As a reminder, be careful with your finger sticks. Three were lost this meet. Fortunately, one was found. In addition to the elastic band around your finger, you should put the string that’s with it around your wrist. The replacement cost for a lost finger stick is $36.

Lots of pickup help. Thanks to Walter, Jim, Matt, Keith, Dave, Byron, Kenny & David (good to see him back). Special thanks to Anthony Williams who came out very early and hung the White course controls. Thanks too to my wife Jeannette who helped me hang all 30 of the other controls all in one day.
Two more meets for this season and maps are going fast – so, the early navigator gets the worm!

Special remembrance:  The COK has scheduled orienteering at Reedy Creek the first Saturday of February for decades.  21 years ago, after runners finished their course, they learned of the 2003 NASA Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.  7 astronauts were lost.
