COK is trying to conduct a 20/21 season despite the restrictions placed on all of us due to COVID-19. It is our intent to provide orienteering under the safest conditions possible for all participants and COK volunteers. We will follow guidelines established by governmental agencies, parks, and OUSA.
The following are the stipulations under which we will conduct our meets this coming season. As this situation is evolving, please check this page for policy updates.
Orienteers should not attend events if:
- They feel unwell or experience COVID-19 symptoms
- Have recently been in close contact with a person with symptoms
- Are under a quarantine requirement
Your registration fees will be refunded if you are unable to attend due to illness.
On line Pre- Registration and advanced payment only. No registration or payment on day of event. Be aware of registration/payment cut-off dates. You will pick up a preprinted map at check-in point. The liability waiver must be signed online.
Everyone age 2 and up must wear a mask while in the registration area, start/finish area, and in shared spaces according to the rules of the facility location. Everyone provides their own mask. Participants bring their own hand sanitizer.
Social distancing of 6 feet. No congregating in check-in area.
No instruction will be offered. On line instruction is available through our website; through OUSA website; through various other websites. Scout troops can find good guidelines in Orienteering Merit Badge pamphlet.
Only three orienteering courses will be offered. Red (advanced level). Green(shorter advanced level) Orange(Intermediate level). For those just starting orienteering, we encourage you to develop your skills using some of the permanent courses at local parks.
For tracking purposes, at the Start and Finish, all participants have to use the name under which they are registered (first name & last name).
All controls will have e-stick capability. There will not be any punches at controls. If you don’t use e-stick, timing will be based on Start/Finish log and will be reported as self- timed. Insert the e-stick into control module. Do not touch the module. If you need to plan your next route, move at least 20 meters from control. No hanging out at control point.
Group size restricted to 2 persons only except for members of one family. Groups orienteering together should only send one person to “punch” the control. Others stay at least 10 meters away.
No food or drink provided on course or around check-in point or Start and Finish area.
